Past all of my own mistakes

My new favorite song...it's breathtaking.

Someday
Someday I’m gonna get where I’m going
Someday, someday
Somewhere past the blindness of my faith
I keep my eye on the plans I’ve made
And someday I’ll get there
Someday
Past the smiles that crack like frozen lakes
Under children’s figure skates
I am going
Past all of my own mistakes
A thousand more I’ve yet to make
But I am going
I am going
I’m gonna get there, I know it
I do not care how long it takes
I do not care what stands in my way
I don’t care what anybody has to say
I know myself
I know myself and I am not afraid
And someday, I’ll get there

What I believe in...

dandelions
wishes
decisions
autumn
the first snow
strong coffee
champagne
paris
books
freckles
the first moment of attraction
magic
honesty
dusk
the smell of fresh cut grass
sunshine
dirty martinis
fistfuls of glitter
chocolate
summer rain
swans
eyes that speak
saying what i mean
meaning what i say
honesty
authenticity
truth
karma
finding your tribe
adoption reform
open records
original birth certificates
healing
growing
curiousity
thrifting
creating
quiet
stillness
love
being alone
not being alone
getting unstuck
meandering
getting lost
road trips
open windows
warm breezes
the beautiful loneliness of snow
cheese
blowing bubbles
bubble gum
children
giggling
art
green eyes
knowing when to say when
helping others
rescuing myself

I'm curious...what do you believe in?

How you carry it

“People are afraid of themselves, of their own reality; their feelings most of all. People talk about how great love is, but that’s bullshit. Love hurts. Feelings are disturbing. People are taught that pain is evil and dangerous. How can they deal with love if they’re afraid to feel? Pain is meant to wake us up. People try to hide their pain. But they’re wrong. Pain is something to carry, like a radio. You feel your strength in the experience of pain. It’s all in how you carry it. That’s what matters. Pain is a feeling. Your feelings are a part of you. Your own reality. If you feel ashamed of them, and hide them, you’re letting society destroy your reality. You should stand up for your right to feel your pain.”

Peace, love and understanding

"My role in society, or any artist's or poet's role, is to try and express what we all feel. Not to tell people how to feel. Not as a preacher, not as a leader, but as a reflection of us all."

"I'm not claiming divinity. I've never claimed purity of soul. I've never claimed to have the answers to life. I only put out songs and answer questions as honestly as I can... But I still believe in peace, love and understanding."

"All you need is love."

-John Lennon
